Medjool dates, known as “the King of Dates”, are famous for their large size, soft texture, and rich taste. Dates are a tropical stone fruit and grow on date palm trees, similar to coconut palm trees. This prized fruit, which was historically reserved for Moroccan royalty, is still considered a delicacy today. 

In addition to their great taste, Medjool dates are known for their nutritional benefits. They provide a significant amount of fiber, as well as calcium, iron, potassium, B vitamins, copper, and magnesium. The fruit is also believed to have cardiovascular and digestive health benefits and is also used as a fuel source by world-class endurance athletes.

Growing Medjool dates is a labor-intensive process, one that we consider a labor of love. A date palm begins to produce dates after around seven years, and once this happens, each tree must be tended to 12-15 times per year. While still on the trees, the Medjool dates are allowed to go through a drying process that makes them soft and sticky and concentrates their sugars, resulting in the deep caramel-like flavor.
